Experienced Professional Care
Therapy for All Life Stages
As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), I am uniquely trained to understand and support your relationship challenges and changes. I can help you, your partner or your family members see ineffective patterns, make changes and get the results you seek. Your feelings may tell you that things are hopeless, but this is rarely true. I will work with you and yours, exploring possibilities for moving forward with a co-created plan. You will be surprised by the power you have to feel better and make things better as you lean into your life! I will always seek to respect your choices and incorporate identity, values and culture into assessment and planning. I work with people at all life stages.
Attachment Focused Family Therapy Specialty
With more than 15 years of training and experience as an attachment-focused family therapist, I am uniquely equipped to support fostering and adoptive parents and caregivers through the struggles that don't seem to respond to typical therapy interventions. I invite you to be a very active part of therapy sessions. You are the most important person(s) in your child's life and I can help you to feel empowered and capable, while your child feels safe and loved. Your family can thrive with focused steps and specialized support and resources from trained professionals. Even a child with a traumatic history and very reactive behaviors, can experience improved trust and emotion-regulation. I will support you with parent and family sessions, and you will support your child. I also work with adult children and couples from the attachment perspective.
About Lisa Tedeschi MA, LMFT
My undergraduate training in Human Development and Family Studies at the Pennsylvania State University, and my graduate degrees in Religion at Yale University, and Human Development / Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Connecticut, create a strong foundation for my work. Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy training combined with Narrative, Experiential and Structural elements, serve as the basis for my attachment focused work.
I believe that wisdom is as important as formal training. Like you, I have experienced a full range of pain and joy in my personal life. These life experiences have made me more curious, accepting, justice and freedom-oriented, patient, compassionate, insightful and balanced. I continue to learn from my clients and incorporate your feedback
into my practice.
I am a NY and VT licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). I am a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), where I also served as chair of the national Ethics Committee.
Most recently, I spent sixteen years as core faculty for the Syracuse University MFT Program, training MFT graduate students. I have been an executive director for non-profits in Maine and Connecticut and have spent decades providing training and leadership on a variety of topics locally and nationally - well-being; attachment therapy; diversity; youth development; advocacy; spirituality and ethics to name a few.
